30 WILD Things to do before you’re 3…. Update!

Hello Mr Sun, it's been a long time!

Hello Mr Sun, it’s been a long time!

Yesterday, for the first time in a long time, the sun was shining, the birds were tweeting and the husband was off work. So we decided to tackle our Easter holidays challenge head on, and headed to Pollok Park.

Luckily for us, Pollok Park is only a 10 minute drive from our house, but once you’re inside and walking along the woodland walks and seeing the Highland cattle, you really forget you’re standing in the middle of a bustling city like Glasgow. For more information on Pollok Park, and all there is to see and do (there are loads!) then visit the Visit Scotland website here:

We managed to complete these points on the “30 WILD Things to do before you’re 3” whilst we were in Pollok Park…

Number 1 – Roar like a lion

Number 2 – Enjoy the year of Natural Scotland by going on a nature walk

Number 5 – Run fast like a cheetah

Number 8 – Look about like a meerkat

Number 10 – Jump around like a kangaroo

Number 12 – Waddle like a penguin

Number 15 – Find some leaves to make a leaf crown

Number 16 – Flap your arms like an eagle

Number 18 – Laugh like a lemur

Number 24 – Make your eyes big like an owl

Number 27 – Move around like a chimp

Number 30 – Stick your tongue out like a lizard

Here’s some more pictures from our day;

We finished our day out with a late lunch in the Burrell Collection cafe. Maybe a bit overpriced for what you are getting (£5.25 for a baked potato with just cheese..no salad, coleslaw or anything!) but it is a really nice place to sit in and just watch the world go by. On our way out, we decided to take a wander through the Burrell and look at the collections. Because of the Easter holidays, they had a demonstration on; “Sword fighting for beginners..” Well, you didn’t need to ask my boys twice!

Aiden and Logan all ready to sword fight!

A new thing that I am attempting is video blogging. This isn’t going too great as I hate my face/accent/screechy voice on video but I did manage to catch the boys (and their dad) completing the other points on the list above.

So here it is, introducing the best penguin waddlers of all time….

I would love to hear how you are getting on if you are taking part as well! Please leave a comment or email me at the address found on the contact page!

  1. The Burrell Collection is one of my favourite places in Glasgow. I’ve been there a few times for mumsnet meet-ups, and we are thinking of expanding these to be Renfrewshire and Glasgow MN meet-ups – maybe you would be interested in coming?

My boys are all older than yours, but I remember the fun and chaos of those years with a lot of fondness – now I am dealing with Standard Grades, Highers, and university.

    • Yeah i would definitely be interested in coming! I’ve been to Pollok Park lots in the past but yesterday was the first time we ventured in to the Burrell Collection…i loved it! Thinking of maybe heading back on my own so I can get a proper look around (without fear of the boys knocking stuff over! lol) I will keep my eyes out for the next meetup – I love a blether 🙂

I'd love to hear your thoughts!
